All coaches should
- ensure all players are YYSL registered players. Only properly registered players can participate in practices and games.
- report 30 minutes before the start of a game for warm-ups and field checks.
- check goals at each practice and before each game. Report any concerns or need for new equipment (soccer balls, cones, pumps, linesman flags, goalie shirt, or First Aid items) to the Equipment Coordinator.
- check players for shin guards at practices and games. Players are not permitted to play without shin guards due to safety concerns.
- as much as possible, ensure equal playing time for all players; exceptions can be made for late arrivals, illness/injury, red card, or disciplinary situations
- share players with the opposing team to create an even match
- maintain control of themselves, their team, and team parents; coaches are responsible for any misconduct of parents or their team members and will receive appropriate disciplinary action from the referee
- use common sense when holding practices during inclement weather; under no circumstances should coaches use a field that has been closed
- identify a parent with sufficient soccer knowledge to act as the referee (in the event of a referee no-show); if a parent is selected to referee, they will be paid the appropriate fee by the coaches. Coaches may referee a game themselves if no other option exists.
- pay referees with funds provided by YYSL according to the payment schedule:
